I believe that since today is #internationalwomensday, it would be a great time to give a #shoutout for a woman who I believe has all the right attributes to be the next #Mayor of Calgary. While I have known Grace Yan Mayor Candidate for a short time, I am impressed by her strong work ethic, common sense, intelligence, strength of character, sensitivity, sensibility, business acumen and commitment to ensuring that Calgary has a vibrant community with strong business, social, sports, arts and entertainment and education sectors to continue to make Calgary one of the best places to live, work, play, raise a family and grow on the planet. For the past 12 years, I have had the honor to work with AFP Calgary & Area Chapter, Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Canada and Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) on something called IDEA (an acronym for #inclusion, #diversity #equity and #access). IDEA appreciates the importance of recognizing the strengths and considerations that are key to success in any endeavor, creating equal opportunity for capable people irrespective of age, #gender, #ethnic background, #religiousbeliefs, country of origin, #mobility, #genderidentity, #sexual expression and many other factors - both visible and invisible - that have been used in the past to #EXCLUDE people because they are #different in some way, shape or form. It is time to #celebrate the attributes that unite us, rather than divide us. On this #IWD2021, I #ChoosetoChallenge others in Calgary who might not otherwise even consider looking at this #strong, #capable woman to be Calgary's next and first #female mayor. Together “We can have a whole new Calgary – and we are capable of doing it.” #HappyInternationalWomensDay
